MASTERY: PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT AND LEADERSHIP

Mastery has given me a better insight into the understanding of my life task. In Week 1, we started the Mastery book by Robert Greene. During this week we discussed strategies to help us determine what our life task might be. Throughout the chapters, Greene uses different masters to related to each chapter topic. Week 2 we focused on inspiration. We took the time to discover someone in our field who inspires you and discovering your personal inspiration for continuing your graduate program. In Week 3, we focused on the concept of “Calling and Communication”. During this week we discussed what we love and what we feel our life’s task is, and then we had to give examples of what we have done that has to help us with our life’s task. We also were able to give our classmates feedback and recommendation that will help them with purposing their life’s task. Week 4, this week we combined all that we learn throughout the Mastery and used the Mastery Journey Framework we did in week 3 to create a presentation about all highlighting all that we learned. We also created a timeline of what we think we will be learning through our degree program.

My original objective was:

  1. Identify My “Life’s Task”
  2. Evaluate My Strengths / Weaknesses and learn ways to make them better.
  3. Learn about historic leaders and how they encompass the creative strategies throughout the Mastery Book

I can honestly say I not only learned all of these objectives and more. This class really opened my eyes to a lot of strategies that will help me make my life’s task a reality. Robert Greene’s “Mastery” book is one that will reference throughout my life.
