Mastery: CONSUMER BEHAVIOR AND ANALYSIS

In this month’s class Consumer Behavior and Analysis I gained a lot of insight into ways to understand consumer behavior and ways to make consumers feel involved.

My original objective was:

1.Gain Knowledge of Consumer Behaviors

2. Learn what my Consumer’s (Target Market) interest.

3.Gain Understanding of Personal Marketing


I really enjoyed this class and learned a lot of valuable information.


Week 1: We learned about the steps of consumer decision making and the marketing funnel. We analyzed the sets of the internet marketing decision-making process and how it relates to our online company.


Week 2: We learned about consumer segmentation. This week focused on target marketing. We talked about psychographics and demographics. We used what we learned and related it to our online company.


Week 3: This week was my favorite out of the month. We learned about consumer-generated content. Consumer-generated content is important to make your costumers feel involved in the company.


Week 4: This week focused on customer behavioral targeting and online consumer behavior. We learned that marketers can track the movements of costumers. We also learn how to generate online consumer surveys that attract costumers.

MASTERY: PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT AND LEADERSHIP

Mastery has given me a better insight into the understanding of my life task. In Week 1, we started the Mastery book by Robert Greene. During this week we discussed strategies to help us determine what our life task might be. Throughout the chapters, Greene uses different masters to related to each chapter topic. Week 2 we focused on inspiration. We took the time to discover someone in our field who inspires you and discovering your personal inspiration for continuing your graduate program. In Week 3, we focused on the concept of “Calling and Communication”. During this week we discussed what we love and what we feel our life’s task is, and then we had to give examples of what we have done that has to help us with our life’s task. We also were able to give our classmates feedback and recommendation that will help them with purposing their life’s task. Week 4, this week we combined all that we learn throughout the Mastery and used the Mastery Journey Framework we did in week 3 to create a presentation about all highlighting all that we learned. We also created a timeline of what we think we will be learning through our degree program.

My original objective was:

  1. Identify My “Life’s Task”
  2. Evaluate My Strengths / Weaknesses and learn ways to make them better.
  3. Learn about historic leaders and how they encompass the creative strategies throughout the Mastery Book

I can honestly say I not only learned all of these objectives and more. This class really opened my eyes to a lot of strategies that will help me make my life’s task a reality. Robert Greene’s “Mastery” book is one that will reference throughout my life.

Mastery: Digital Marketing Campaign Development

I really enjoyed this class! I also really appreciated professor Murray feedback.

I originally thought I would learn these objectives:

1.Learn about Digital Marketing Campaigns

2.Discover  Digital Marketing Case studies

3.Learn how to create a Digital Marketing Campaign

I would definitely say my original objectives were a tad bit off.

Week 1: We had time to work on our digital marketing campaign and we discussed what we think a marketing campaign is in our own words. We also learn about the disadvantages and advantages of marketing campaigns.

Week 2: This week we learned about strategies for implementing marketing. We discussed ways to implement a low budget campaign. We then did an assignment on innovative marketing campaigns.

Week 3: This week was my favorite week out of the month. We discussed presentation delivery. We looked at different presentations that we found effective and talked about how we would pitch our marketing campaign. For our assignment, we had to pitch our digital marketing campaign.

Week 4: This week was about social media policy and personal branding. This week’s discussion focused on social media policy and talked about our opinions on it. For the assignment, we evaluated our online social media presence.

This was a great class to end the program off!

Mastery: Digital Marketing and Law

This class challenge me. I gained a lot of insight about laws regarding marketing and the importance of it! Originally coming into this class I was very excited to learn about digital marketing and the laws centered around it.

I originally thought I would learn these objectives:

1.Learn about the Legal aspects of Digital Marketing

2.Discover cases related to Digital Marketing

3.Learn about Federal Trade Commission and the Federal Communications Commission

I can honestly say I learned all of this and more.

Week 1: We learned about jurisdictions and copyrights. I enjoyed this week because our assignment was to create podcast on spam. This was very interesting assignment.


Week 2: This week we discussed cyber crimes and spam. I enjoyed this week’s discussion post on cyber crimes. The discussion allowed me to think. deeper on the topic.


Week 3: This week we discussed privacy and created a privacy policy for our case study company using policies from similar companies like ours. I actually really enjoyed learning about the policies.


Week 4: This week focused on defamation and terms of use. I learned a lot about defamation and really enjoyed the discussion post.

I am excited to use what I learned in the real world and learn more because laws are things we have to abide to everyday.

Mastery: Digital Analytics and Optimization

I really enjoyed this class this month. I gained a lot of insight about analytics and the importance of it regarding marketing. I plan on becoming Google Analytics certified by the end of next month.

I originally thought I would learn these objectives:

1.Become Familiar with Google Analytics.

2.Gain an understanding of analyzing web metrics

3.Understand Digital Analytics and Optimization

Week 1: We learned about learned what Digital Analytics is and the myths behind it. We also learned the importance of analytics and how it should be implemented with companies or businesses we work for.


Week 2: We took what we learned from weeks 1 and 2 and applied them to create an analytics optimization plan for our case study.


Week 3: This week was my favorite out of the month. We learned about consumer-generated content. Consumer-generated content is important to make your costumers feel involved in the company.


Week 4: This week focused on applying everything we learn to critique one of our classmate’s optimization plans. I also enjoyed this week’s discussion board topic on the impact of Google Analytics vs other analytics software.

Mastery: Strategic Internet Public Relations.

I really enjoyed this class & have learned a lot during my time in the Strategic Internet PR course. Coming into the program, my objectives originally for this course were:

1.Gain an Understanding of Public Relations

2.Learn the significance of a publicist

3.Understand how the Internet and Technology impact Digital Marketing.

This was probably one of my favorite classes. It taught me that PR and Marketing go hand-in-hand with each other. The first week we learned about ethics as it relates to public relations. During week 1 discussion we talked about our morals & ethics, and learned ways to monitor brands. Week 2 we created our own press release, this was my favorite thing we did. The 3rd week we used our press release to come put with a distribution strategy. Everything we learned will be valuable parts of the final case study. I can’t wait to use what I’ve learned in this class in the future.

Mastery: ADVANCED SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMIZATION

I learned so much in such a small amount of time in this class. My original goals for this class was to:

1.Become familiar with Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

2.Become familiar with new trends in search engine marketing

3.Gain an understanding on how things are analyzed

I did become more familiar with SEO. In week 1 we utilized Spyfu.com. This a great website and tool to use to monitor competitors’ websites and to understand company websites.

Week 2 we learned about PPC campaign pitch. This assignment was probably the most challenging for me this week. PPC a is very important concept to understand when pitching ideas to upper management.

Week 3 was my favorite from this month. It dealt with website architecture and the health of companies websites. I really enjoyed learning the health of my case study Jeni’s website.

Week 4 finally dealt with Local SEO. I learned that my company could do better in this category. I also learn that local SEO is very important for small and big companies to improve search rankings.

I look forward to using what I learned in this class in the real world.

Mastery: Advanced Digital Marketing Strategies.

I really enjoyed this class! I learned so much in such a small amount of time. My original goals for this class was to:

1.Gain an understanding of Digital Marketing Strategies

2. Learn components of Digital Marketing

3.Start Building my Personal Network.

During this class, I have learned the steps needed to complete and make an internet marketing action plan. The first week I learned about 4 different personas and UVP. The second week I learned about conversion optimization strategies. The third week we learned about metics and revenue. The last week, we used what we learned in the pervious weeks to create out own internet marketing action plan.

My favorite thing about this class was probably the discussion post. I really enjoyed reading and responding back to my classmates.

I really enjoyed this class and I can’t wait to take the information I have learned in my everyday life.

Mastery: New Media Marketing

I really enjoyed this class! I learned so much in such a small amount of time. My original goals for this class was to:

1.Obtain a list of media outlets for Marketing

2.Learn the importance of Influencers

3.Understand the significance of Social Media in Marketing

During this class, I have learned the difference between fans, customers, and influencers. I now know how to identify them. In this class, we were also assigned to create a Brand Ambassador Program or Influencer Outreach program. For my company Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream I choose to create an Influencer program. Through the 4 weeks of class we add more and more to our Influencer or Brand Ambassadors plans.

My favorite thing about this class was probably the discussion post. I really enjoyed reading and responding back to my classmates. My favorite discussion was when we talked about how to respond back to negative comments. I loved all of the post and the suggestions.

I really enjoyed this class and I can’t wait to take the information I have learned in my everyday life.

Mastery: DIGITAL DESIGN AND USABILITY

In this month’s class ” Digital Design and Usability” I gained a lot of insight into ways to make my company’s website better. 

My original objective was:

  • Gain an understanding of Web design
  • Learn the importance of Digital Design.
  • Become familiar with the basics of digital design and web design


I learned a lot of valuable information.


Week 1: We learned about the importance of usability for our companies. We had to analyze our websites and compare it to a competitors site.


Week 2: We learned about usability testing. For this week assignment we had to perform our own testing for our websites.


Week 3: This week was my favorite out of the month. We learned about findability. During this week we had to make suggestions on how to make things on our site more findable.


Week 4: This week 4 focused on the changes we would implement as a whole for our company’s website. We incorporated all of the variables we learned about through out the month.

Mastery Reflection: DIGITAL STORYTELLING AND BRANDING

In this month’s class Digital Storytelling and Branding class, I gained a lot of insight into branding than I thought I would learn more about the company target market and learning more about personal branding.


Week 1: We learned what makes a brand and why branding matters. The three little question exercise made me think a little deeper in my company Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams to find out why they really matter.


Week 2: We learned about finding our companies brand voice. We choose a character related to our company and did a presentation on why the two related and how that character represents the companies brand voice.


Week 3: This week was my favorite out of the month. We learned about brand archetypes and which one our company falls in. My company fell in the “Creators Brand” archetype. We also learn about how storytelling is a key factor in branding. We were given the task of creating a story relating to our companies.


Week 4: This week focused on customer brand experience and brand strategy. We used the example from a customer Starbucks experience and how it had a big impact on her. We also used the lessons from this month’s classes to create a brand strategy plan for our company.


This month’s lessons will all be used as a framework for my internet marketing plan and a resource for understanding branding.
